Prenatal Massage

More than just relaxation, prenatal massage offers woman specific treatment for their changing and growing bodies.  With the help of specialized cushions, the therapist can easily accommodate the prenatal/postnatal client safely and comfortably.

As the woman grows her Proprioception (feeling of her space and how she negotiates movement within her space) changes in short peroiod of time, massage helps reline a woman’s perceptive of her space allowing her to better adapt to change.

Also during pregnancy woman’s bodies overproduce a hormone called relaxin. Relaxin is designed to loosen ligaments that hold the bones together for an easier birth.  That hormone is only needed at the end of pregnancy, in the mean time the muscles work overtime to keeps the joints together, massage helps alleviate that muscle strain.

At the end of the pregnancy many women experience edema (swelling) massage also help to body to eliminate excess fluids naturally.

Post Natal Massage

Post natal massage can be just as important if not more important than Prenatal.

Post natal is not always as wonderful as we expected.  Perhaps the birth didn’t go as planned. Perhaps you are having a difficult time healing from birth. Oxytocin (the Love hormone) has drastically decrease, increasing risk of postpartum.  Massage helps increase oxytocin naturally.  Massage also helps increase circulation, increasing recovery time.

Infant / Pediatric Massage

Used as both a benefit to the infant and help increase bond of child and parent.

Infant massage as most massages improves blood circulation.  It enhances development of the nervous system. Stimulates neurological development.  Increases alertness and heightened awareness.

Aids in digestion, which offers relief from gas, colic and constipation.

Reduces stress hormone and increases the release of Oxytocin, called the Love Hormone.

Autism Massage Therapy

Therapeutic method of massage has been increasingly employed for children with autism.

Using specific massage techniques, massage gives the child the ability to relax.  This in turn has been proven to improve sleep, which reduces fatigue and anxiety.  Massage lowers blood pressure and heart rate.  With improved energy levels creative ability and thinking process increase.

Massage provides a complementary treatment to western medicine.

ADD / ADHD Massage Therapy

Massage Therapy has been understood to soften your muscles and calm your nervous system.

Usually reserved for adults and sometimes infants, imagine the benefit for children and adolescences especially those who suffer from ADD/ADHD.

Children/adolescences with ADD/ADHD find it difficult to hold their attention, often it is accompanied with impulsive behaviour and over activity.

Massage reduces levels of the stress hormone cortisol, helps diminish the fight or flight response (sympathetic nervous system) while activating the rest and digest response (para sympathetic nervous system) Massage helps increase focus, fidget less and children/adolescences who participate in relaxation therapy find themselves happier.

Short 30 minute treatments of massage weekly or best, twice weekly show drastic improvement.  Treatments can be preformed over the clothes and parents are welcome to join in to observe.

Oncology Massage

Using special care and compassion, massage can greatly benefit those either recovering from or undergoing cancer treatments. Dispelling old myths regarding massage and cancer.
